If you voluntarily include sensitive information in a resume, message, uploaded document, or other free-form content, that information may be processed as part of the content you submitted.
Resume, Career, and Uploaded Content
Users may provide information for resumes, cover letters, interview preparation, profiles, employment searches, and related career tools.
This may include information about supervisors, references, projects, accomplishments, deployments, awards, prior employers, addresses, telephone numbers, and similar information.

Regional Administrator and Sponsor Information
We may collect business and contact information from regional administrators, economic-development organizations, workforce organizations, sponsors, and their representatives.
Regional administrators and sponsors do not receive access to identifiable job-seeker profiles merely because they administer or sponsor a region.
They may receive program-level, statistical, aggregated, or de-identified information where appropriate.
Messages
Candidates and employers may communicate through Sergeant TAP.
The Service is designed so that private user-to-user messages are not routinely available to Sergeant TAP personnel, regional administrators, or sponsors.
Our systems necessarily process and store information needed to transmit and maintain messages. Limited authorized technical access may occur where reasonably necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, enforce, or protect the Service, investigate suspected misuse, or comply with law.
Sergeant TAP does not use private messages for advertising.
Technical Information
When you use the Service, our systems and service providers may automatically process technical information such as:
- Internet Protocol address;
- Browser and device type;
- Operating system;
- Session information;
- Login information;
- Date and time of access;
- Pages or features used;
- Application errors;
- Security events; and
- Diagnostic and performance information.
Sergeant TAP does not currently request or collect precise GPS location through the Service. An IP address or other technical information may nevertheless provide an approximate location.
3. How We Use Information
We may use personal information to:
- Create and administer accounts;
- Authenticate users;
- Provide resume, cover-letter, interview-readiness, transition, and employment tools;
- Build and maintain user profiles;
- Allow candidates to choose whether employers can discover them;
- Connect candidates and employers;
- Provide job and candidate recommendations;
- Estimate compatibility or relevance between candidate information and employment opportunities;
- Enable communications between users;
- Operate regional programs;
- Verify eligibility where verification is used;
- Send account and service communications;
- Provide customer support;
- Protect accounts and the Service;
- Detect fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, or security threats;

- Develop new features;
- Create aggregated or de-identified statistics;
- Understand how the Service is used;
- Enforce our Terms of Service;
- Comply with legal obligations; and
- Establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.
4. Candidate Visibility and Employer Access
Candidate visibility is opt-in.
A job seeker may choose whether to make a profile discoverable by employers.
When visibility is enabled, an employer may be able to see limited summary information such as:
- Name;
- General location;
- Branch of service;
- Rank;
- Current or recent job title;
- Current installation or base;
- Core strengths;
- Awards or medals; and
- Other summary professional information selected for display.
More detailed information, including contact information, is not intended to become available to an employer merely because a candidate appears in search or matching results. Additional information may be provided when the candidate authorizes or initiates that disclosure.
Candidates may disable profile visibility.
Disabling visibility does not necessarily withdraw information already intentionally shared with an employer, applications already submitted, or messages already sent.
5. Matching, Ranking, and Automated Tools
Sergeant TAP may use software-assisted, algorithmic, or artificial-intelligence-assisted tools to help users discover employment opportunities or candidates.
These systems may compare job-related profile information with information associated with an employer's active jobs and may recommend, organize, or rank results according to estimated relevance or compatibility.
The information considered may include professional experience, military experience, skills, training, credentials, career interests, job requirements, work preferences, and general location or similar job-related information.
Sergeant TAP does not guarantee any particular methodology, weighting, ranking, score, or result.
Sergeant TAP does not make hiring decisions on behalf of employers and does not automatically hire, reject, advance, or disqualify candidates.
Matching and ranking information is intended to assist discovery and human decision-making. It is not a determination that a candidate is or is not qualified for employment.
6. Artificial Intelligence
Sergeant TAP uses artificial intelligence services, currently including technology provided through OpenAI, to support certain features.
Depending on the feature, relevant information may be transmitted to an AI service provider to generate or assist with content such as:
- Resumes;
- Resume summaries;
- Cover letters;
- Career-related content;
- Interview-preparation materials;
- Skills translation;
- Recommendations; and
- Other functionality offered by the Service.
We seek to transmit information reasonably related to the requested function rather than making personal information available for unrelated purposes.
AI-generated information may contain mistakes, omissions, or inappropriate recommendations. Users should review AI-generated content before using or submitting it.
Sergeant TAP does not authorize AI service providers to use Sergeant TAP user information for advertising on their behalf.
The handling and temporary retention of information by an AI service provider may depend on the provider, API, endpoint, configuration, and applicable contractual terms.
7. How We Disclose Information
We do not sell personal information.
We do not rent candidate lists.
We do not provide personal information to third-party advertisers.
We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may disclose or make information available in the following circumstances.

For example, a candidate may choose to:
- Make a limited profile visible to employers;
- Provide additional information to a particular employer;
- Submit an application;
- Respond to an employer;
- Send a message; or
- Use another feature that necessarily transmits information to another user.
Employers
Employers may receive candidate information according to the candidate's visibility settings, applications, communications, and specific permissions.
Employers are independent users of the Service and are responsible for their own use of information after receiving it.
Service Providers
We use service providers to operate Sergeant TAP. These may include providers of:
- Hosting and cloud infrastructure;
- Databases;
- Authentication;
- Email;
- SMS communications;
- Artificial intelligence;
- Security;
- application performance and diagnostics; and
- Other technical infrastructure.
These providers may process information as reasonably necessary to perform services for Sergeant TAP.
Google Sign-In
If you choose to sign in using Google, Google may provide information necessary to authenticate you and establish your account, such as your name, email address, account identifier, or other information permitted by the authorization process.
Legal, Safety, and Security Reasons
We may disclose information where we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to:
- Comply with applicable law, subpoena, court order, or valid legal process;
- Respond to lawful government requests;
- Protect the rights, property, security, or safety of Sergeant TAP, our users, or others;
- Investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
- Enforce agreements; or
- Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Sergeant TAP does not provide user information to military branches, the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, state governments, economic-development organizations, or other government entities merely because a person uses Sergeant TAP.
Business Transactions
If Sergeant TAP is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar business transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
8. Regional Partners and Sponsors
Payment by a region, sponsor, workforce organization, economic-development organization, employer, or other organization is payment for access to services, program participation, sponsorship, or other contracted benefits.
It is not a purchase of Sergeant TAP users' personal information.
Regional administrators and sponsors do not receive access to individual job-seeker data merely because they pay for or administer a Sergeant TAP program.
Sergeant TAP may provide aggregated or de-identified statistics to help evaluate program activity, workforce conditions, participation, or outcomes.
9. Aggregated and De-Identified Information
We may create information that is aggregated or de-identified so that it does not reasonably identify a particular individual.
We may use this information for purposes such as:
- Service analytics;
- Product development;
- Workforce analysis;
- Program reporting;
- Regional planning;
- Business planning;
- Measuring outcomes; and
- Explaining the value or use of Sergeant TAP.
We do not intend to attempt to re-identify information maintained as de-identified except where reasonably necessary to test or protect the effectiveness of de-identification.
10. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Sergeant TAP and its service providers may use cookies, browser storage, tokens, and similar technologies that are necessary to:
- Keep users signed in;
- Authenticate accounts;
- Preserve settings;
- Protect security;
- Maintain sessions; and
- Operate the Service.
Sergeant TAP does not currently use personal information for third-party behavioral advertising.
We may introduce analytics, diagnostics, or measurement technologies as the Service develops. If those technologies materially change the practices described in this Privacy Policy, we will update this Policy and provide any notice or choices required by applicable law.
Because Sergeant TAP does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, browser-based opt-out preference signals do not presently alter those nonexistent activities. If our practices change, we will honor legally required opt-out preference signals.
11. Email and SMS Communications
Sergeant TAP currently sends service-related and transactional email communications.
These may include:
- Account notices;
- Authentication messages;
- Security notices;
- Application activity;
- Candidate or employer communications;
- Job-related notifications;
- Service updates; and
- Other communications necessary to provide features a user requested.
Where Sergeant TAP offers SMS messaging, users will be asked to provide any consent required for the applicable messaging program.
Message and data rates may apply.
Users may withdraw consent to automated text messages through the methods provided with the messaging service, including recognized opt-out requests where applicable.
Opting out of optional SMS messages does not necessarily prevent Sergeant TAP from communicating important account or legal information through other available methods.
Sergeant TAP does not currently use user contact information for third-party advertising.
12. Third-Party Jobs, Websites, and Services
Sergeant TAP may display jobs, resources, programs, or other information originating from third parties.
Some external job opportunities may direct a user away from Sergeant TAP to apply on another website.
Once you leave Sergeant TAP, the third party's terms, privacy practices, security, content, and procedures apply.
Sergeant TAP does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for the privacy or data practices of services it does not operate.
13. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including while an account remains active.
The appropriate retention period depends on the type of information and why it is maintained.
If you request deletion, we will delete, anonymize, or otherwise remove personal information from active use within a reasonable period, subject to legitimate exceptions.
We may retain limited information when reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with law;
- Maintain security records;
- Prevent fraud or abuse;
- Resolve disputes;
- Enforce agreements;
- Maintain business and contractual records;
- Protect legal rights; or
- Meet other legitimate legal or operational requirements.
Information may remain temporarily in backups until those backups are overwritten or expire through normal retention processes.
Where feasible, verification documentation should not be retained longer than reasonably necessary for verification, security, legal, or audit purposes.
14. Security
Sergeant TAP uses administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information appropriate to the nature of the information we process.
No internet service, database, transmission method, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials and should notify Sergeant TAP promptly if they believe their account has been compromised.
15. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Sergeant TAP provides U.S. users with the ability to request certain basic privacy rights even where a particular state privacy statute may not require us to do so.

- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete personal information;

Sergeant TAP does not discriminate against users for exercising legally protected privacy rights.
To make a privacy request, email:
hello@sergeanttap.com
Please identify the request and provide enough information for us to reasonably verify that the request relates to you.
We may request additional information when necessary to verify identity or protect an account from fraudulent requests.
Authorized agents may submit requests where applicable law requires us to recognize them, subject to appropriate verification.
16. Account Deletion
Users who wish to delete their Sergeant TAP accounts may contact:
hello@sergeanttap.com
Deleting an account may prevent further access to information or content stored through that account.
Before requesting deletion, users should save copies of resumes, cover letters, or other information they wish to retain.
17. Children
Sergeant TAP is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old.
We do not knowingly offer accounts to children.
If we learn that we have collected personal information through an account belonging to a person under 18 in violation of our eligibility requirements, we may terminate the account and delete the information as appropriate.
18. Information You Should Not Provide
Do not use Sergeant TAP to submit:
- Classified national-security information;
